Eight AI-powered speed cameras have been installed on roads at the international airport by the Bengaluru Traffic Police. Cameras have been installed along the Ballari Road flyover to track vehicles exceeding the permissible speed of 80 kmph.
These cameras were installed on busy roads following the increase in road accidents on Kempegowda International Airport Road. Speed cameras automatically detect vehicle speeds and issue fines for speeding.
“Keeping in view the increasing number of road accidents, speed cameras have been installed at Kempegowda International Airport with a permissible limit of 80 kmph,” Bengaluru Traffic Police officials said at a press conference on Tuesday.

According to a report in Moneycontrol, Bangalore Traffic Police Joint Commissioner MN Anuchez said that around 9% of accidents in Bangalore are reported on Airport Road. Bellary Road leading to Kempegowda International Airport is one of the most accident-prone areas in the city, with motorists often exceeding the speed limit.
According to the official documents of Bangalore Police, the fines for reckless or dangerous driving of two-wheelers are as follows: INR1000 and INR2000 for speeding.
According to traffic police records, accidents on airport roads increased from 278 in 2022 to 322 in 2023. This year, 110 accidents were reported on the same road between January and April alone.
