“All members who are interested in running for central committee and contributing to FCAS are welcome to do so,” Goh said at the Federation of Hokkien Associations of Sabah and FT Labuan Youth and Women’s Annual General Meeting held at the Putera Theatre Ballroom in Bukit Padang on Friday. At last year’s general meeting, FCAS amended its constitution to make the term of office of central committee members, supervisors and other members three years with the possibility of re-election. This means that there is no longer a limit of two consecutive terms for a chairman. Goh also clarified that there is no need to pay RM5,000 to nominate a candidate for FCAS central committee.

He said rumours had been circulating even before nominations began that some people had been denied nominations for not paying the RM5,000. “These rumours were spread by individuals with ulterior motives.”
